Hospice Services at Primrose

Two People Holding HandsWe are often asked about hospice care by patients as well as family members. When you contact us, we provide the following information in addition to answering any other questions you may have:

  • Every resident is entitled to hospice care under Medicare.
  • Hospice care includes grief counseling for our patients and their family members, extra supervision, administration of medication, and comfort measures.
  • Primrose staff assists with all necessary medications and healthcare supplies to ease the burden, allowing families to focus on their loved one.

We understand that each family has its own sensitivities and that the delicate nature of dealing with a life-limiting condition can sometimes be a difficult situation. We are here, whenever you need us. At Primrose those who receive hospice or palliative care are encouraged to continue interactions and activities with other residents and join in other special programs and services we offer whenever possible.

What Is Hospice?

Hospice offers care and support for the emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of residents and their families in end-of-life situations.

Hospice care and palliative care services provided through programs from local resources such as St. Joseph’s Health, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and Heartland Hospice augment the care provided by Primrose staff. These hospitals offer a wide range of specialty services to meet your loved ones needs.

These hospice programs are part of our commitment to deliver compassionate, expert care, offer peace of mind, and provide comfort to our residents with a life-limiting condition, as well as support for their family members. Our work at Primrose in conjunction with these hospice programs helps our residents and their families express what they need and create memories that will last beyond their time at Primrose.

They treated my mother like family

For anyone considering Primrose for your loved one, I would like to share my experience. My mother lived at Primrose for about 2 years before she passed.
Primrose was a godsend for her and us, her family. After about a month of adjusting, Primrose became home. Primrose allows so much freedom and independence for people like my mother who have progressive memory issues as well as behavioral issues, but still have so much life in them and ability to do many things. I saw that many people at Primrose needed more extensive care and were not as aware as my mother was. The beauty of Primrose is that each person is treated as an individual and receives personalized care and attention. There is structure and flexibility, beautiful grounds and kind, well-trained staff. They treated my mother like family and she could feel that.
